CHANGES NOBODY GAVE A SHIT ABOUT IN SEASON ONE OF GAME OF THRONES:
Dany and Viserys not having violet eyes
The Baratheons not having blue eyes
Bran not being ginger
Tyrion not having heterochromia
Lannisters not having green eyes
Theon Greyjoy’s hair not being dark
Eddard’s hair not being as dark as Jon or Arya’s hair even though they are the only two Stark children to take after him
Dothraki not really having that many bells in their hair
Syrio not being skinny and bald
Gregor not being 900 feet tall
Tyrion not really looking as unpleasant to look at as he was described in the books in general
Jorah suddenly being sexy instead of old and balding
Sandor’s scar looking like a particularly bad sunburn instead of horribly disfiguring
Renly having short hair
Loras being more blond than brunet
Joffrey’s lack of long, curly hair
Tommen not being very chubby
Lysa being skinny
Sweetrobin looking pretty healthy and normal
Petyr having no beard
Prettying up Illyrio
THINGS PEOPLE GIVE A SHIT ABOUT IN SEASON TWO:
Any character being cast as anything but white, even if their ethnicity is not explicitly stated in the book or they have a relative from a region where it makes sense for their not being 100% Caucasian to be a thing that is probably happening

This is sadly crazily accurate.

THINGS THAT HAPPEN IN GAME OF THRONES/ASOIAF THAT ARE HIGHLY UNREALISTIC:
Dragons hatch on a funeral pyre
Girl survives said fire unharmed despite sitting in it all night
Same girl gives birth to a dead dragon mutant creature
Seasons last anywhere between one and ten years
Civilization lasts over 8000 years, yet still extremely basic in terms of technology
Giant wolves that grow to be the size of ponies
Young boy travels back and forth in time through a tree
Wights
The Others
Wildfire
Qyburn’s experiments
Young girl initiated into secret organisation, can now literally change her face in order to assassinate people
Dragonglass candles
People brought back to life by a red priest
House of the Undying
Melisandre’s ruby glamours
Motherfucking DRAGONS
THINGS LINDA SAYS ARE UNREALISTIC IN GAME OF THRONES/ASOIAF:
Black people

Soooo… who got cast as a black actor that people are pitching a fit over? I think I missed this news.

The black actors who were cast:
Nonso Anozie as super rich Qartheen (and dude who keeps trying to get Dany to marry him even though he loves the peen), Xaro Xhoan Daxos: http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/08/nonso-anozie-cast-as-xaro-xhoan-daxos/ In the books, it’s mentioned that the Dothraki refer to people from Qarth as milk men because of their skin. However this isn’t a huge plot point at all and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with making the Qartheen population diverse for the sake of finding the best actor for the role…it just so happens that this time, the best actor was actually a black man. Go figure, people of colour can act and can be the best at something!
Lucian Msamati as Lyseni pirate (and Davos’ bff), Salladhor Saan: http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/08/salladhor-saan-cast/ The drama over this casting seems to come from the idea that Lyseni are blonde and fair. However, Doreah is supposed to be Lyseni and she’s clearly brunette and not exactly fair. This character’s skin colour is even less relevant to the plot than Xaro Xhoan Daxos’.
There were comments about how the creators were trying to fill quotas and attempting to deflect criticism due to complaints regarding the portrayal of the Dothraki.  You know, black actors can’t possibly be chosen over white actors for roles simply because they were better actors or were the best choice for the roles; no sir! HBO was obviously trying to fill a quota. Affirmative action is ruining fantasy stories.
There was also drama over the Jeyne Westerling casting (even though Jeyne’s not “white”) of Oona Chaplin, who’s Latina. There have been a lot of thinly-veiled racist comments about how she looks too ethnic, not innocent enough etc.

I heart tumblr’s fandom so much.

This is old in internet time but I lolled a lot.
